project overview

Green Design & Construct was engaged to complete grounds and vegetation maintenance at Transgrid’s Substation, supporting 330kV, 132kV and 66kV electrical infrastructure.

The works included mowing designated areas within the substation and surrounding buffer zone, together with weed treatment across approved switchyard areas.

Each stage was documented through site checks, safety records and before-and-after photography, providing the client with clear evidence that the scheduled maintenance had been completed.

Delivering within an operational ENERGY environment

The project required a carefully controlled approach to site access, personal safety and vegetation management within an operational high-voltage environment.

Before commencing the chemical application, the team assessed the weather and wind conditions and used the required personal protective equipment. Treatment was completed using suitable application equipment across designated areas of the switchyard.

All works were completed professionally and to specification, with no safety incidents, near misses or additional site concerns reported. Gates and access points were checked and secured before the team left the facility.

The works brought together:

  • Maintenance of the surrounding buffer zone

  • Grass management along access roads and fence lines

  • Weed treatment across the approved switchyard area

  • Mowing of designated areas within the grounds

  • Assessment of weather conditions before chemical application

  • Required PPE and site-safety procedures

  • Before-and-after photographic reporting

Project outcomes:

The completed works left the designated grounds and switchyard areas maintained, documented and secured, including:

  • Improved presentation across the maintained site areas

  • Controlled grass and weed growth

  • Clear access through designated operational areas

  • Maintenance completed with no reported incidents

  • Photographic evidence and digital reporting supplied to the client at repeat project stages

Build. Maintain. Sustain.

This project demonstrates GDC’s ability to deliver reliable grounds and vegetation maintenance within a sensitive, operational infrastructure environment.

Through careful planning, safe work practices and accountable reporting, the works were completed efficiently while respecting the requirements of a critical energy asset.
